Calahonda: beaches, a watchtower and an international feel

One of the largest residential developments on the Costa del Sol, with sandy beaches, a watchtower and communities from around the world.

Calahonda — officially Sitio de Calahonda — is one of the largest residential developments on the Costa del Sol. It occupies the western end of Mijas, between the dual carriageway and the sea, on the border with Marbella.

The Torre de Calahonda is one of the watchtowers that once protected this stretch of coastline:

Beaches

Playa de Calahonda is the development’s main beach, with plenty of space and facilities during the holiday season:

At the western end is Playa de La Luna (Royal Beach), very close to the border with Marbella.

An international corner

Calahonda is home to residents from dozens of countries, and this is reflected in everyday life: restaurants serving cuisines from around the world and places of worship such as the Iglesia de los Marineros Noruegos (Norwegian Seamen’s Church), a meeting point for the Norwegian community, the Iglesia de San Miguel and Calahonda Baptist Church.
